CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course & Health, Safety and Environment Tests

Course Aims

To provide a practical summary of health and safety, welfare and environmental issues identifying individual responsibilities for looking after themselves and others, what the employer’s duties are and what should be done if they think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

To examine knowledge across a wide range of topics to improve safety and productivity on site. It is usually taken as a PC-based touch screen test.

This course is for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry as a member of the workforce.

Course Objectives

This course highlights potential hazards when working on site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe. It covers your individual and employer’s responsibilities, including what you can do if you think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk. At the end of the course you will have an understanding of:

  • the need to prevent accidents
  • health and safety law
  • how your role fits into the control and management of the site
  • risk assessments and method statements
  • performing safely and asking for advice
  • how to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident
  • Update their knowledge of Health and Safety Awareness
  • Work at a significantly less risk to themselves and others
  • Understand safe working practices

Additional Information

The Health and Safety Awareness will be completed on the first day, followed by the Touch screen test on the second day.
